The problem of children taken away from families in Norway is finally moving the society, which is of course good. However, other problems appear on the horizon that foreigners have to face. The new law on children makes the situation in the country even worse for foreigners.
A recent article I am now bringing translated and adapted to this blog, describes the bleak situation in an excellent way. Should the story resemble something you have heard of already, believe that it is definitely not a coincidence.
The article itself was designed especially for Norwegians to understand the situation in which many families of foreigners whose children have been taken in Norway found themselves. However, it also has much to say to us who do not live permanently in Norway, as some people headed by Minister Marks want the Norwegian practice spread to the Czech Republic, too.
At the beginning, I mentioned that the greatest issue concerns one of the statutory regulations. What is it all about? The new change in the law on children enables the authorities to order parents that their children have to go to pre-school. If the parents refuse, the competent authority (i.e. the social office) may take appropriate action, which actually means place the children in institutional care outside their own family. And this of course does not just stop there.
